HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME Directed By Kathy Paladino Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney animated film, this spectacular show features music by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell). The story follows deformed bell-ringer Quasimodo and his adventures during the annual revels of the Feast of Fools, where he’s treated cruelly by all but the beautiful gypsy, Esmeralda. She alone sees the beauty beneath his exterior, and her kindness lays the foundation for a redeeming friendship that brings its own rewards when Quasimodo later saves her from the machinations of the devious Archdeacon Frollo. A full vocal choir underscores much of the show, powerfully evoking the backdrop of 15th-century Paris and Hugo’s classic gothic novel. You’re sure to be swept away by the magic of this touching and unforgettable musical adventure. |
